Base Width & Depth: The beads range from 9mm to 13mm in diameter, the sapphire by tumble stone is 20mm in size

- The beads range from 8mm to 10mm in diameter, the large ruby tumble stone is 17 x 10 mm in size, the length of the mala is 19 inches or 48 cms, each bead is hand cut in Jaipur, India giving every stone its unique shape

Meet Meenakshi our Mala maker! Meenakshi is a 35 year old mother of 2 boys. She has been stringing malas for 10 years. She enjoys her work because she works in her home in Rishikesh. This allows her to work and take care of her 2 children while also helping provide for her family.
Whenever I meet women who are working in India it fills me with joy. Men are typically the workers and bread winner of the household. When women are working it gives them more power at home and puts them on the path to true social equality. Knowing that Lotus Sculpture is in some way helping this trend makes me feel good about what we are doing.
Mala Care: Each mala is strung with 21-27 threads of cotton string and double knotted between each bead. Most other malas are only single knotted. You can shower and swim with these beads on. The mala is hand made with quality materials and will last.
Significance of 108 Mala beads: In one minute, one breathes in approximately 15 times, in 1 hour 900 times, and in 12 hours 10800 times, and in a day 10800 times 2. A day consists of 24 hours, and if we set aside half the day for sleep and errands, then one can spend 12 hours for recitation of a mantra. The maximum number of times that one can recite ones mantra during one day is 10800 times. If one wants to obtain 100% benefit of its full mantra, then performing a mantra 108 times will give you the full benefit of the mantra. That's why in a "Mala", there are 108 beads. It is written in Vedas, that 1 Jaap corresponds to 1 mala (which has 108 beads), therefore performing jaap of 108 malas will result in 100% benefit. Mantras can be spoken out loud, underones breath or in ones head so it is possible to go through ones day with the mantra contiuously spinning in ones mind.
