  • The Hindu God Shani is one of the 9 planets in Hindu astrology or navagraha representing the planet Saturn
  • He stands majestically on a lotus base, his powerful form emanating divine justice and protection with the crow at his feet symbolizing Shani's deep connection with the cosmic laws of karma
  • Holding a bow and arrow, Shani is ever-ready to combat injustices, while his abhaya and varada mudras offer blessings and fearlessness
  • This Shani statue is a hand made, one of a kind, bronze sculpture cast by the artists of South India using the lost wax process, a skill passed on for generations since the Chola period
Unveil the profound spiritual essence and exquisite craftsmanship with our polished South Indian Panchaloha bronze statue of Shani Bhagwan, a revered deity known for his stern justice and protective power. This exceptional piece is not only a symbol of deep religious significance but also a magnificent work of art, showcasing the unparalleled skill of South Indian artisans.

Standing with dignity on a beautifully crafted lotus base, Shani Bhagwan's commanding presence is both awe-inspiring and comforting. In his upper hands, he holds a bow and an arrow, ready to combat evil and injustice, symbolizing his role as a divine warrior. His lower right hand is in the abhaya mudra, offering protection and dispelling fear, while the left hand is in the varada mudra, granting blessings and fulfilling wishes.

At Shani Bhagwan's feet sits a large crow, his vahana or vehicle, a symbol of the dark and complex nature of his character. The crow represents the mysteries of fate and the deep connection Shani has with the cosmic balance of karma.

Crafted from Panchaloha, a sacred alloy traditionally used in divine statues and known for its spiritual and healing properties, this statue radiates a spiritual energy that is palpable. The polished bronze finish adds a warm, luminous quality to the statue, highlighting the intricate details and the powerful form of Shani Bhagwan.

Shani, the personification of planet Saturn, is revered in Hindu mythology as the god of justice, discipline, and the dispeller of evil. His name, derived from 'Sanaischara,' reflects his slow-moving nature, symbolizing patience and the thoughtful passage of time.

This statue is not just a tribute to Shani Bhagwan but a profound symbol of the universal law of karma, reminding us of the balance of good and evil and the importance of living a righteous life. Ideal for a place of worship, as a powerful protective emblem in your home, or as a significant gift, this Panchaloha statue of Shani Bhagwan stands as a beacon of justice and spiritual awakening.

The Ten Avatars of Lord Vishnu

Vishnu's preserving, restoring, and protecting powers have been manifested in the world in a series of ten earthly incarnations known as avatars.  The avatars arrive either to prevent a great evil or to affect good upon the earth.  Nine are said to have descended already: three in non-human form, one in hybrid form and five in human form.  The most important are Rama, fearless upholder of the law of dharma and Krishna; youthful hero of the Bhagavad-Gita Vishnu's final avatar is expected to arrive at a time when the earth is at the end of its present cycle, with the purpose of destroying the world and subsequently recreating it.

1.   Matsya the Fish - Saved humanity and the sacred Veda text from the flood.
2.   Kurma the Turtle - Helped create the world by supporting it on his back.
3.   Varaha the Boar - Raised the earth out of water with his tusks.
4.   Narashima, half-man, half lion - Destroyed a tyrant demon king.
5.   Vamana the Dwarf - Subdued king Bali, a powerful demon.
6.   Parashurama the Brahmin - Destroyed the warrior caste.
7.   Noble Rama - Rescued his wife Sita and killed the demon Ravana. Upholder of the dharma.
8.   Krishna the Divine Cowherder - told the Epic poem Bhagavad-Gita to the warrior Arjuna.
9.   Buddha - The enlightened one.
10. Kalki the Horse - Destroyer of the world.  Yet to come to the earth.

Bronze is an extremely durable metal made from a combination of 5 metals; copper, iron, tin, with minute additions of silver and gold. This combination is called Panchaloha bronze and is the basis for making the sacred Hindu temple statues of India and the world. Copper is the most prevalent metal in the alloy. Copper also gives the metal a softer composition that allows the bronze artisans to carve the details that are prevalent in each piece.
All the South Indian bronze sculpture Lotus Sculpture carries are Panchaloham and thus suited for any home altar or community temple.

If you would like the piece to shine use a cotton cloth with some coconut oil or other natural oil to wipe down the bronze statue.

Because of the durability of the metal not much is needed to maintain a bronze sculpture. Many of our customers purchase a bronze statue and perform daily puja and abhisheka consisting of bathing the Hindu deity in ghee, milk, coconut milk or other liquids. In this case nothing is needed to keep the statue clean as it will be bathed daily. If the sculpture is used for "darshan" or simply viewing the sculpture it is best to dust the statue as needed so no dirt collects in the details of the sculpture. For both polished golden bronzes and antique patina bronze statues if you would like the sculpture to shine use a cotton cloth with some coconut oil or other natural oil to wipe down the piece as needed.

Many of our bronze Hindu statues have been placed in outdoor temples. Bronze's durability makes it perfect for cold winters and hot summers of any climate. We suggest you bathe the sculpture every couple of months so that dirt does not collect on the sculpture and then use a cotton cloth with some natural oil to give the statue a shine. Both indoors and outdoors a bronze statue can be left alone which, overtime, will give the bronze an antique patina.

On some bronze statues you can see small hints of lime green, verde-gris patina. Some people prize this color for its age others want to remove it. If you would like to remove the verde-gris use a tooth brush with some coconut oil or other natural oil and lightly go over the verde-gris. This should remove the unwanted patina from the sculpture.

Polished Gold Bronze: Many temples and homes prefer the highly polished gold bronze for temples or home altars. In order to give the statue a bright polished sheen we recommend using a cotton rag and buffing the piece. An acid like tamarind or lemon juice will help aid this process. This takes time and effort to bring out the polish. If you are looking for a short cut; some of our customers have used a product called Brasso which has been good at bringing a tarnished golden piece back to its golden shine.
